I have been eagerly been waiting for the newest ninja poi from home of poi.com to come in my mail. Each day I’d be checking hoping that they would come in the mail, finally the day had come. Only really seeing Yuta’s and 1 other video on youtube, I had some questions and was going to find answers. Durability is big on my list along with battery life… amongst many others…

How is the durability?
This is probably one of the most important things for me when it comes to a spinning toy. The durability of the hop Ninja Poi is sturdy. I have hit them together with some force, and they have not turned of due to that. I did have to mess with the prong to hold the batteries better. But once I did this never had an issue again. They did say that if it didn’t work they would exchange it.

Overall durability I would give them: 8/10

How is the replay value?
Reply value on your led spinning toys really matters. The big question to me is how many modes does it really have? Do they actually vary different from each other?

Mode one-11 settings
Mode two-10 settings
Mode three- 10 settings
Mode four- 7 settings
Mode five- 6 settings
Mode six- 20 settings

That makes for a total of 64 settings! The modes definitely vary from each other, you get all the choices of pretty much any color you could want. I really like the fact of only having to get a set of these have having the choice of any combination of color.

Another factor to add to the list is the fact that they use AA batteries. I have so many more of these kinds of batteries then anything else. Although, I would definitely recommend using rechargeable AA’s instead of average non rechargeable, it made a huge difference for me. So far recharged AA batteries have lasted me over 8 hours of play, and the LEDs are still going strong.

Overall replay value, I would give them: 10/10

Tech Specs?
- 3 Full color LEDs
- 7 x Soft PVC outer cushion rings
- Requires a single size AA battery
- Weight: (with Battery) 102g / head
- Length = 7 inch / 175mm
- Width = 1 3/8 inch / 35mm

Performance?
The LEDs in these poi are very bright, they seem brighter then other led poi on the market (in their price range). As far as performance, orbitals I would say look the most badass with these, since there is so many modes you can play with the fact that they can make your patterns go forward or backwards depending on how fast you spin them. Flowers, extensions, look beautiful with all the various setting you get to choose from.

Overall performance value, I would give them: 10/10

Price:
Price is $35.00 USD / Unit, so your going to want at least two of these to get down.

Overall price value, I would give them: 9/10

Final Results:

Durability: 8/10

Replay Value: 10/10

Performance Value: 10/10

Price Value: 9/10

Final Average/Total: 9.25/10

Final Thoughts…

I really enjoy the fact that hop has come out with a new set of led poi. It will help create a market for other glow toys as well as create healthy competition and ultimately create better led toys in the market. I also like the fact they have the option to be almost any color / design with out having to buy 10 pairs of led sticks. This is also the closest product I have seen to designing different shapes, designs, cosmos, and more with out costing thousands of dollars. Seriously though if you spend 5 mins on every setting you would end up playing with these for over 5 hours that’s pretty epic for replay value! Get them you will not be disappointed!

ase X’s review: As always I enjoy the COL Collections and this time around it was no different. I like seeing spinning artists from all over, and how our art has advanced. In this edition of COL we are engaged by mostly newcomers, with some returning artists as well. I felt that last years episode had more hype and lived up to it. This years run through fell though for me in a way that there was a lot of repetitiveness. There was nothing that really stood out in my mind as mind blowing. There were two highlights in it for me. The x2 Fire Whips, and the double fire swords. Both of those are props I have been wanting for awhile but have yet to forge them.

Final Thoughts: Get the DVD for inspiration and the support of a great cause and to keep the HOP COL Series alive and kicking. Don’t set ultra high expectations and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Pyrus’s Review: I feel it had really good return entries. I also felt it didn’t live up to last years. A lot more performance based then technical. There was a lot of cool scenery as well as sock poi entries.

Exuro’s Review: For years Circle Of Lights has been stuffed with the most amazing performances by many of the worlds top spinning artists, and 2008 was no different. Inspirational performances are scattered throughout the video, interspersed with a fair amount of fresh talent from all across the world. The majority of the film kept my eyes glued to the screen, but for me it felt like there was a bit of filler footage,. This years edition of COL has quality performances with tons of props; from amazing contact and doubles staff work, to hula hoops and rope darts, to poitastical displays of badassery and everything in between. I would say COL ’08 is something that everyone should think about adding t0 their collection.

Final Grade: B (buy it)
