We just got a copy of Home Of Poi’s Circle of Lights 2008 into our hands and we have reviewed it. Here is our feedback.

ase X’s review: As always I enjoy the COL Collections and this time around it was no different. I like seeing spinning artists from all over, and how our art has advanced. In this edition of COL we are engaged by mostly newcomers, with some returning artists as well. I felt that last years episode had more hype and lived up to it. This years run through fell though for me in a way that there was a lot of repetitiveness. There was nothing that really stood out in my mind as mind blowing. There were two highlights in it for me. The x2 Fire Whips, and the double fire swords. Both of those are props I have been wanting for awhile but have yet to forge them.

Final Thoughts: Get the DVD for inspiration and the support of a great cause and to keep the HOP COL Series alive and kicking.  Don’t set ultra high expectations and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Pyrus’s Review: I feel it had really good return entries. I also felt it didn’t live up to last years. A lot more performance based then technical. There was a lot of cool scenery as well as sock poi entries.

Exuro’s Review: For years Circle Of Lights has been stuffed with the most amazing performances by many of the worlds top spinning artists, and 2008 was no different. Inspirational performances are scattered throughout the video, interspersed with a fair amount of fresh talent from all across the world. The majority of the film kept my eyes glued to the screen, but for me it felt like there was a bit of filler footage,.  This years edition of COL has quality performances with tons of props; from amazing contact and doubles staff work, to hula hoops and rope darts, to poitastical displays of badassery and everything in between. I would say COL ’08 is something that everyone should think about adding t0 their collection.

Final Grade: B (buy it)
